My name is Bob and I live on Oregon.I guess I had a pretty normal childhood,Step-Dad was a Police Off. & mom was a Dispatcher both in California where I was born.To make a long story short,I found out I had a blood diease and cerrosis of the Liver in 1999 (had it for a while).I had lots of pain in my joints and body. I was put on Vicodin for the symptoms and started interferon therapy, (6mo.-didn't work).1 1/2 years later a new drug comes out Peg-Interferion.I do 6 months again,(still didn't work),but this time I was sick like I had the Flu,worse body pain and now FEVERS... Oh MY GOSH!So I go on Methadone for the Pain and discomfort.One last try- OHSU has a study w/Peg Interferon and some study Drug (1 full year of this-didn't work).Then I found myself on Methadone and no way off.And let me tell you that stuff is VERY hard to stop (they say it's like Heroin to stop).Soon I was up to 12-14 10mg Methadone a day. As my Illness progressed, I started losing weight...FAST.From June 06 to Jan. 07 I went from 254lbs. to 190 (sounds good but I wasn't eating).I knew from my younger days that Marijuana makes you Eat,so I told myself "if I get to 180lbs I know how I can Eat (meaning Medical Marijuana).Well let's just say thet 180lbs. came Quick,so I tried Marijuana,and ,well I ate very well & WOW a lot less Pain.But I had to be Legal,so I got my Medical Marijuana Card.They told me I would have to grow it Myself or find a Grower.Well,at least I was legal to have it on myself so I could Medicate, when appropriate.The next thing I realize is I've been cutting down on taking the Methadone and did'nt even know it!So here was my delema,Med. Marijuana was helping me get off Methadone and healping me Eat,but no where to get it,unless you were LUCKY enough to have a Grower or knew HOW to grow it yourself.And now I here that the Growers that were helping others in PAIN are on Trial.I'm sorry,but is'nt that CRAZY,these Patients are told to find a Grower, and when they did,and found some relief their Growers are Arrested.I am a very sick man.With situations going on like this,I will never find a Grower and will be in more pain because all the Growers are afraid of the consequences of Growing,(kind of like arresting the Pharmacist for having Vicodin or Methadone on their Person,crazy huh.?.).Please,have mercy on the ones who benifit from Medical Marijuana and show compassion to People who want to help get them their Medicine.It's needed,it's time, and we have to get past the "stoner" reputation that comes with it.Now I'm saying "Medical Only" not total legalizing of Marijuana.I'm sorry but the Booze has no medicinal value,that I know of, and it's totaly Legal.?.All I know is I have Chronic Hepititas C,Non-Responder Genotype 1-A, stage 4 Cerrosis of my Liver and I NEED to eat and like to feel better.And I would if my Medication was readily available.Please help these folks by dismissing charges.Hay,if someone is out there growing and selling Marajuana for a Huge profit illegaly,they should be punished.But if a Grower has Documentation of Patients and is in Legal poss. of the right ammounts I belive he or she should be left alone.That's what I'm saying,Lagal Documentation,it's not hard,ethier they have it,or they don't.If you don't have it,you will be in big trouble.I have to go.Boy,you know,I just don't want to hurt anymore...
