Yes. Less than a week from now I will face destiny and I welcome the day, as I am exhausted by the process and the unknowing of it all. Finding out what mountain it is that lies ahead of me will be relieving, no matter what the end result. I am confident that I can overcome any obstacle and identifying that obstacle will be the first step to regaining my life back and moving on with the future.
I am hopeful that reason will find its way into the courtroom on Wednesday and that justice will prevail in some manner. There is no changing the past and I accept that I have broken federal law and that there are consequences for that. I look forward to the day when we can have a real debate about whether the laws that have convicted me a felon are, in themselves, just and moral. I can hope that we will in the future see a government lead by an administration and a congress that believes in science and the rationale of a person's right to well-being and happiness.
Many good and honest citizens lives have been affected by the brutal enforcement of unnecessary and misunderstood legislation from years past. Can we imagine what the world may look like to our movement if truth and reason came to the forefront of the American landscape and the wasteful politics fueled by the greed of big business lobbying groups became a practice of old? Understanding the ability to make more informed decisions about our health will make our society stronger and begin to give people real choice in how they choose to take care of themselves.
One can only hope this day comes soon, as many of us are being persecuted by this great misunderstanding of a simple healing plant. We, as a nation, as a society, and as a universe deserve to have sound policies based upon scientific and medical reasoning. Yes, these last five days until sentencing have left me in a deep philosophical state of mind, as I ponder the insanity that has shaped and formed the government that will decide my fate in a few short days. Let us be grateful for the progress that has been made by the courageous members of this movement, but understand that we are still a long way from stopping the tyranny and waste surrounding the enforcement of failed policy at the highest levels.
