Heroes are Remembered, But Legends Never DIe
This is a quote from the kid's baseball movie "The Sandlot" but I think it goes deeper than the movie would suggest.

This is a quote from the kid's baseball movie "The Sandlot" but I think it goes deeper than the movie would suggest. I posed the question "Have we been forgotten?" not so long ago, and it was great to hear from a number of activists that assured me we had NOT been forgotten. It was important for me to hear, as I often find myself in a world of seclusion magnified by the fear of losing my freedom, my family, and my purpose as this struggle carries on. It is crazy to think how much my life has changed over the past months since the violent attack on my family and business. I have been on a roller-coaster ride of emotion and have let myself really begin to search for where it is I need to go from here.
The legal issues can consume a person's entire life and one often finds themselves in a strange land of confusion with pressure and attacks coming from all angles. I am at a breaking point with all of that, from the plea deals, to the IRS, to the attorneys, I am fed up with "the system" and often wonder why I got into all of this. It gets you far detached from reality and makes you delusional.
I remember why we persevered year after year to provide safe and effective medicines for patients in California. i remember why we carried the torch through the chaos and the fury to advance cannabis therapeutics. I recall why we continued to rebuild every-time the DEA would tear through town and force our dispensary affiliates into prosecution or hiding. I remember why we continued to push the rock up the hill, as forces we could not control would inevitably push it back down and force us to be in a constant state of rebuilding. I know deeply why we continued to develop our products with patient needs in mind and continued to make the case for edible forms of medical cannabis even when the chips were stacked against us. I am confident of the reasoning that allowed us to press on in the face of adversity and the tactics of governmental fear mongering. I know why.
Because WE BELIEVE. We believe in our inalienable rights as humans, as Californians, as patients, and as activists. We believe in the benefits of cannabis as a medicine and have seen firsthand the positive effects it has had in patients' lives, the community, and in the societal landscape. We believe in changing the perception of cannabis in society and educating people on the many possibilities that have yet to be explored in the vast world of cannabinoid research and development. We believe in a person's right to medicate in ways outside of the norms of "western medicine" which has become a profiteering joke and scam like we have never seen before. We believe in nature's ability to heal and understand the oppressions that have lead to cannabis being viewed in a negative light. We believe in patients right to safe access and the importance of providing cannabis that is produced in a safe and clean environment to ensure patient safety. We believe that we are right in our efforts to advance cannabis as a medicine even in the face of danger because we see the truth and will no longer allow for our government and big business lobbying groups to control the entire system of "medicine" and ignore the benefits of one of the most useful resources of therapy...CANNABIS. We believe in this movement and we believe in ourselves.
Yes this movement is full of heroes. Everyone that stands up in solidarity to say, "We will no longer be pushed around and lied to about cannabis therapies," is a true hero in my eyes. The folks that continue to provide safe and quality medicine to patients in the face of danger of prosecution are all heroes. The folks that tirelessly campaign for patients' rights and safe access are all heroes. The fact is that it is this culmination of small and terrific heroes that will result in a legend, and LEGENDS LIVE FOREVER, which is more than we can ever ask from this movement. As we press on remember we are writing this legend, page by page, step by step, victory by victory. We are united in our efforts to create change and I am so proud to be amongst each and everyone of the people that have continued to forward the medical cannabis movement. I thank you all.
